Carnivorous Lettuce! actually this plant is one of the tropical carnivorous sundews Drosera schizandra . Actual plant being offered both images. Note the young plant growing through from the root system of the mother plant (image 2)
This species is a personal favourite & a bit of a rarity in most collections. The plant has sticky leaves in which it attracts and captures small flies (fungus gnats). In shady conditions may actually lose it's droplets settling for a more vegetarian lifestyle.
Native to Australia, we have found it to grow well indoors under terrarium conditions kept out of direct strong sunlight, with other Carnivores. Keep humidity and moisture up with this plant but don't let them over heat. Remember they are tropical but growing near cool flowing creeks in rain forests.
Bare rooted when sent via express post?
Plant will be bare rooted and carefully wrapped in sphagnum moss. We prefer to bare root most carnivores for ease of postage and the plants safety in transit (prevention of bruising etc)
While we try and keep postage cost down to a minimum, there are times when larger orders exceed the standard weight limit. Due to the difficulty of weighing plants/soil etc if the plants exceed our normal parcel size and standard express $12.65 postage cost, we may need to send a separate postage invoice in these cases. Where possible, we will combine postage too. We do everything we can to minimise your postage cost while keeping the plants safe & healthy when you receive them. Thanks for your understanding.
Plant to be sent bare rooted and carefully packaged. Post days are Sundays
