This unique aquatic floating plant is actually a type of plant commonly known as duckweed. A naive of many parts of the world including Australia. Nice addition to habitat ponds or aquariums. Unlike the smaller cousins this is a rather large species by comparison. Will go dormant to something small bud like structures that sink to the bottom of the pond until warm weather arrives again.
A great food source to a number of animals from Black swans to turtles!
Grows well in ponds provided that you don't have turtles eating it!
Appears to grow well in sunny or partly shaded conditions. Worth trialing in aquaria.
