You are purchasing one pack of approximately 16 plants (note its larger size to smaller duckweed sp)

This species will go dormant in Winter forming turions and sinking to the bottom of the pond in colder conditions.

Habit & Ecology:

Large Duck Weed forms important for for many water birds and creates shelter for young fish.

Many duckweeds thrive with high nutrients and are able to cover entire surfaces of even small lakes. High nutrients may be pollution/fertilizer and road run off. Natural areas see many of our aquatic plants often in balance with seasonal bursts in growth and decline.

Wildlife seen using this species:

Food plant for:

- Short necked River Turtles

- Water Fowl (Black Swans)

- Aquatic microbes

For Shelter/Breeding:

-Presumably great nesting site for native fish (rainbows attach tiny eggs to floating plants)

-Root systems entire ecosystems unto themselves providing habitat for an array of microbes

Human uses:

Used as a fertilizer, in other countries feed for stock. Potential as a human food but more research likely required.

High Biofiltration potential (sucks up nutrients and potentially pollutants)

Care:

Can be grown in aquariums with decent lighting, Grows well in ponds Sunny or partly shaded conditions. Keep nutrients low in water if you don't wish for the plant to cover the surface. Alternatively makes a great fertilizer for the veggie patch and fruit trees if scooped out regularly and placed around them.

Note:

- You may receive additional species in the pack (duck weed etc) Doing our best to purify our collections and stop frog movement between our cultures!

- Protect your local biodiversity, do not release any plant into your local environment even if native. Plants from cultivated sources may not be of genetic local provenance and interfere with local population ecology and genetics

- We do our best to check for hitch hikers before sending but we can't guarantee there wont be any. We suggest all plants be quarantined to contain any potential hitchhikers (algae to aquatic & land snails/inverts ) no matter the supplier

- Apologies we cannot send plants internationally to WA, TAS or NT (Biosecurity)

- Please pay for plants/items by 1pm Saturday to give us time to package the plants before post day MondaysPayment after 1pm Saturday will mean plants posted the following weekIf there is a public holiday during the post week we will post the following week to avoid the plant spending excess time in transit

- Be aware we cannot claim responsibility for delayed times in postage.

- We do our best to carefully package & post on Sundays/Mondays to minimise delays in transit. We care about our plant life some of which are rare, we want the plants to arrive to you in the best possible condition. But please note some factors are out of our control  especially in current times
